The Staff

Most of you are probably not aware, but this site has been on-line for over five years now. I first began the site in late 1999 as a collection of construction reviews, back when I actually had time to build models. I never envisioned the path that this site would take over the years, nor the impact that it would make on my life, and how it is now one of the major items that define who I am.

At some point, I decided that I would start writing and posting in-box previews in addition to construction reviews. I'm not exactly sure when or why that happened, but it turned out to be the defining moment in the history of this site, because that is when the future started to be shaped. Also, somewhere during the second or third year I started accepting photos of built models from other viewers of this site, which resulted in the Gallery, and the almost complete elimination of my free time to build models of my own.

Many of you who have been following this site over the past couple of years know that I have been struggling with balancing the needs of the site with the remainder of my life, sometimes not very effectively. To that end, I recently decided that I can no longer manage the site on my own, therefore, I am pleased to announce that I now have a partner.

Simon Barnes should be a name familiar to most small scale modelers, as he has been very active in the modeling community and on-line discussion boards for many years. He and I have corresponded over the years regarding research on various models and tanks, and I highly respect his knowledge and opinions. He has his own website where in addition to seeing some of his work, viewers can purchase models from the Ukrainian company, ACE. I very much look forward to Simon's involvement in this site, as I am beginning to need a lot of help keeping the site on track. Simon can be reached at .

It is likely that I will soon add another staff member to the On The Way! team, so stay tuned for future developments.

So here then, are short bios of the people behind On The Way!:

Site owner and proprietor: Doug Chaltry

Gallery Manager and more: Simon Barnes
