20mm Flak 30

Manufacturer: MACDistribution (Kit No. 72053)

As far as I knew, MACdistributes kits made by other companies, but I have no idea whatis the origin of this kit. Perhaps it is an original from MAC. Itis a mixed-media kit, with the majority of the larger gun partsin plastic, and the gun shield and other smaller details inetched brass.

The plastic is verydetailed, and crisply molded. A common weakness to gun kits isover-scale barrels, but not with this one. The 20mm barrel looksvery good. Not visible in the scan is very fine grooves in theammo cartridges, as well as treadplate detail on the gun base.

The brass parts arelikewise very well made. The primary brass parts are the gunshield and braces. There are two handholds to be attached to thegun carriage, but they would be better represented if replacedwith bent wire.

The only reference I havefor this gun is a Japanese Ground Power issue. Based on thephotos, this kit looks very accurate in detail, but there are nomeasurements included in the book, so I don't know about thescale. The Flak 30 was a very small gun, so the size looks rightto me, but I have no confirmation of that.
