StuIG 33 Auf Pz. III
Manufacturer: Rhino Models(Kit No. 38)
This is an excellent kit.I'm hoping to get to building it soon. The hull and trackassemblies look like the kit is based on the ESCI Panzer III, butthe idler wheel is obviously scratch-built, and it looksfantastic. I didn't think such thin resin was possible with the"pour method" of resin casting. As you can see in thescans, the level of detail is very good. The open hatch on thetop of the hull is a pleasent change to the typical solid bodyresin castings for small scale vehicles. The small items in thelower right corner of the above scan are headlights and mufflers.
Because of the castingmethod, there are a fair number of bubbles and holes on thebottom of the hull, but these are easily filled. None of theparts need replacing, and assembly will be quite simple. Nodecals are included, nor are instructions, but none are neededeither. I've compared the kit to drawings in the Achtung Panzerbook which covers this vehicle, and the details match up quitewell. This is a superb kit, and I highly recommend it.
